A Changed Mind

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I really want to make a warrior but I joined an awesome guild that is leveling together, they are all about 20 levels higher than me so I am on the Big catch-up. I choose an Blood Elf Hunter named Ezell. The Reason Why I choose the hunter is because I have the most fun with him. To put it simply he feels the most dynamic to me. He feels the most like an action character from a comic.

So lets talk about what he does and my plans for him

First lets talk about my Pet. I pick the boar as a pet, the reasons for this is, that the boar is a great all around pet he will eat anything, he keeps good aggro, and he does ok damage.
Now the boar has 4 skills that are learnable, those are Bite, dash, Charge and Gore. You might be asking what These skills Do, well :
Bite does just that-Bite
cost 35 focus and has a 10 second cooldown. so your pet can use bite every 10 seconds A quick Search on www.petopia.com shows me that

Rank Info

Rank Level TP Description
1 1 1 Bite the enemy, causing 7 to 9 damage.
2 8 4 Bite the enemy, causing 16 to 18 damage.
3 16 7 Bite the enemy, causing 24 to 28 damage.
4 24 10 Bite the enemy, causing 31 to 37 damage.
5 32 13 Bite the enemy, causing 40 to 48 damage.
6 40 17 Bite the enemy, causing 49 to 59 damage.
7 48 21 Bite the enemy, causing 66 to 80 damage.
8 56 25 Bite the enemy, causing 81 to 99 damage.
9 64 29 Bite the enemy, causing 108 to 132 damage.

Charge cost 35 focus and cool down 25 seconds.

Charge is a very powerful, and popular, skill. Charge can be used only by boars, and indeed all boars know some rank of Charge when they are tamed. Charge has three basic components:

  • First the boar speeds towards the target at a very fast pace!
  • Second, the boar immobilizes the target for 1 second.
  • Third, the boar gains some extra attack power to its next attack, which generally means that it does more damage or generates more threat (with Growl)

Rank Info

Rank Level TP Description
1 1 5 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 50 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.
2 12 9 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 100 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.
3 24 13 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 180 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.
4 36 17 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 250 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.
5 48 25 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 390 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.
6 60 29 Charges an enemy, immobilizes it for 1 sec, and adds 550 melee attack power to the boar’s next attack.

We will talk about Dash when we get to 30 but for now justknow that it makes the pet run faster for 15 seconds. Last but not least Gore. Gores the enemy, causing damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage. Cost 25 focus has no cool down.
h3>Rank Info

Rank Level TP Description
1 1 1 Gores the enemy, causing 3 to 5 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
2 8 4 Gores the enemy, causing 6 to 10 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
3 16 7 Gores the enemy, causing 9 to 13 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
4 24 10 Gores the enemy, causing 12 to 18 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
5 32 13 Gores the enemy, causing 15 to 23 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
6 40 17 Gores the enemy, causing 18 to 30 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
7 48 21 Gores the enemy, causing 24 to 40 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
8 56 25 Gores the enemy, causing 30 to 48 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.
9 63 29 Gores the enemy, causing 37 to 61 damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage.

The way all this works is that to level the skill up you HAVE to make a pet that has that skill your pet for a while you take your pet and put him in a stable untill you learn the skill. I actually leveled my first hunter to 40 without knowing that. I cant imagine how easy it would have been if my pet used his upgraded skills.. doh!!!!

So lets see what happens
I basically need to learn now the question I have is should I use bite? Bite at rank 2 (level 8) does 16 to 18 damage. Gore at that level does 6 to 10 with a 50% chance to do 12 to 20. So yea I should get it :).

I am Back

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Well After a long hiatus I am back. Real life stuff is all I am going to say. Since I am back on the horse I want to reiterate what I plan to do. I want to take a warrior and bring him to level 70 from 1 to 70. And I want to take you with me. The reason I want to do this, is because the warrior is one of those classes that seem like they have it hard while leveling but pay off at the end by being bad ass. At first the whole you are a tank thing sounded cool to me but now it seems as though Blizzard wants there to be a true mixture of jobs each class can do. What I here from 2.3 is that paladins will be given more ability to tank so now you can be the tank and not have to be a warrior. So it seems you want to be a tank or healer with the ability to tank or heal, be a paladin. If you want to be a tank or a melee dps be a warrior. The other class that could tank would be the druid. witch can actually do melee dps along with healing and tanking. But the warrior seems to be the only one that can do melee dps in plate armor!!!So there is my reason, wearing plate armor running up on something with a car door sword and bashing/slicing the crap out of it. So what I did was pick the biggest meanest looking race and said ok lets go do this.

7 ways not to be a broke looser in World of Warcraft

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

This guide is assuming you are starting on a new server or you are totally new to World of Warcraft. There have been allot of make money fast schemes out there but the question arises do you really need them. I had my mount money by the time I was 30 on a new character. So here are ways you will profit the most from wow.

1.Pick two gathering profession

People are lazy, let me write that again. PEOPLE ARE LAZY!. If you don’t know that life lesson, “betta ask some body”. The point being that, Gathering professions take time and allot of higher level people just want their crafted items now. They do not want to worry about gathering them on their own. Thats where you come in. And doing dirty work pays.

2. Do not start a new character on a new server.

There is just too much competition. This is not to say that you can not make money on a new server. It is just to say that it will take longer to make the same amount on a new server. The numbers just work for you.

3. Auction White Items

Items that show up as white can be used in many professions as components. Many players just need to find one white item to make a nice piece of armor or potion so they will usually pay a little more than there worth at auction for it.

4. Use a gathering mod

Gathering mods can pinpoint the exact location of different mines and herbs. I usually will pick an area and go from mine to mine gathering resources. This way you do not have to memorize every place you found a node. Takes tons of time off your travel.

5. Use a secondary characters as your banker

You can just mail that person all you items and continue your adventuring. It used to take an hour for items to get to a character on the same account now its almost instant. This way you do not have to go to the nearest auction house, you can just find the nearest mail box( these are littered all lover the place). Remember saving time can also save money.

6. Pick a Druid for your Race

OK, you do not have to be a druid as your race but it is a wise decision if you are using this character as a money mule or if you just cant pick what type of role you will have in the game. Druids do it all, they can heal themselves, they can stealth, they can turn into bears. This can only help your situation as you will not absolutely have to have the best items while leveling because your different forms will give you a boost in whatever role you are taking at the time. Therefor quest items and items you find will do just fine for a long long while. Even though at higher levels you will most likely be carrying around more than one expensive suit where others will carry one. Do not worry yourself over this, you will either get them from the arena or raids. In fact as you are leveling you will ALWAYS have enough cash for upgrades in fact you will have more than enough after following these rules.

7. Buy low sell High

An oldie but goody, as you go to auction keep an eye out for people desperate to get rid of items, they will always sell at a low price. Grab that item and resell it at a higher price and profit. Get a mod called Auctioneer it will tell you the going rate for the item you find but also check some other sites out to see what it should go for and many times you can sell it for twice the amount. I actually started doing this with a lump sum of money I saved up, and after a while it became a game in itself. I actually began to not even have to have professions on one of my accounts. Anytime someone tried to out sell another person by selling lower than them I would buy it and set the market with whatever price I chose. Its more complicated than that, but thats a article for another day. At this stage it will be enough of a boost to your income to do this:

whenever you come across a cheap item buy it and sell it at a higher price. The end :)

The Adventures of BattleBull

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

So I have decided to make a warrior for my adventure series. I want to do this because there are not a lot of warrior guides out there for such a great class. I figure I will make a warrior and write guides based off of what works and what doesn’t work for my warrior. So I will be posting some of the things I find cool for my warrior.

The characters name is BattleBull and I am playing on a RP server, this might cause problems but I say my characters story is based on him taking the name given to him as a youngster from the Orcs. It might not be the best story but it fits I will write more about his background in a more RP sense later. when I get to level 10 I will put up my armory stats so you guys can follow along.

Sachi’s Quest

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

As I have said in my introduction, I am a indie game developer as well as a World of Warcraft fan. A good friend of mine has finished his first Indie game. Its called Sachi’s Quest. It’s a great game, with a great Story. Folks this game was basically done by one person, which basically means its a game made for the love of the game making. The Game was made in an older version of the torque game engine, so it might look outdated a bit but the game content is what really makes the game. Also there are rumors of a second Sachi’s Quest.

Sachi's Quest- a good indie game

Welcome to my World of Warcraft Blog

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Hi and Welcome to my Blog. This Blog will contain alot of the things I find interesting about Wow and the Wow universe. I plan on doing allot with this blog as it will be the center piece of everything I do with WoW in my Daily life.

One of the biggest reasons I started the Blog was put my voice out there and have great discussions about all things WoW. I also believe the best way to make a living is by doing something you love, well I love WoW and I love software. So I will also be writing software based on WoW and developing addons, there will be a Dev section for this. As I explore what it means to be an entrepreneur who focuses on the MMORPG market I will be sharing all my discoveries with you.
